Gem Dino Bone Cabochon

Gem bone is the process in which the cells of a dinosaur bone are filled with silica-rich waters, creating a gorgeous array of color combinations and even sparkly druzy pits in some cells. Gem-quality dinosaur bone is only found in an area known as the Morrison Formation, which spans a large section of the western United States and Canada. More specifically, most gembone is discovered in the four-corners region of Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico, although it is very illegal to collect.
